It's not too late!

I am still working on a few Easter items. I hope the Post Office plays nice and delivers all Priority shipments as promised in 2-3 business days. The babies are still hatching from different colored eggs. Today I little heartshaped one emerged from this lovely blue egg.

If not for Easter it can still be a nice surprise any other old day. Who doesn't love a surprise?

I finally managed to create a couple of leafbuddies again. It's been a while since I made one of those cuties. But then a custom order came as a reminder to keep them stocked. They do make a lovely spring birthday gift.

Lea - new Doll in shop!

I am very proud of this sweet doll. There is a little girl in my daugther's dance class with that name. Her hair is such a pretty blond it looks like liquid gold. No yarn will ever come close to that perfect color but the doll I made still looks pretty darn sweet.

Now you know how I feel about noses. I usually don't do them. But maybe I am changing my mind. I think tiny little button noses are fun. I love how little Lea's turned out.

Since Easter doesn't seem all that far away, I figured I give her a dress and a pet bunny. Lea loves her little white friend. He is soft and has blue eyes like her. I made him from some a very soft wool roving. Took forever to get him in that perfect seated shape. No two needlefelted bunnies ever look the same, you know!

Now this unique set is available in my shop. I hope they will find a good home somewhere down the line. But I also wouldn't mind keeping them around for a spell. I am hoping to get a professional photographer to take some photos of this darling set before it sells.

Learning New Things...

My husband always gives me great toys for my crafting and sewing. My stocking is usually filled with with more or less useful gadgets. In Christmas 2007 I received a needlefelting kit. I have loved the art of felting ever since. Felt making is such an amazing craft. But I only do it when things slow down and when I have lots of time. After Christmas is the perfect time.

For quite a while I have been wanting to try wet felting. The tools used are so simple and readily available in any home. It all seemed such an easy thing to do.

 Well, I can tell you that much: It is not as easy as it looks

I wanted to create some treasure eggs for Easter to put my tiny dolls and needle felted creatures in.  In order to make them I read up on wetfelting and watched several videos on the internet.

In the end I made them my own German way, combining several techniques. If you want to wetfelt all you need is:

soap
wool roving
water (hot & cold)
bubblewrap
old towels
a bowl or two

+lots of patience...

I made blue eggs and some dark green eggs because those were the two colors I had tons of wool roving left over from needlefelting.

The felt is not quite as firm as I wanted it to be. But I still find my eggs turned out to be very soft and beautiful.

They make the perfect little soft nest for my little ones.
