Green Egg with a Little Ham anyone?

Hoping to move some merchandise in my shop I lowered the prices on all the miniature dolls and my big dolls. February has been very slow, to say the least. Could it be the bad weather? Who wants to shop when it's freezing outside? But with my store you don't even have to leave home. So that can't be the reason, right? At GermanDolls you can shop sitting in your armchair, computer on your lap, and have everything delivered right to your doorstep. So I am not sure why the bad weather would have an impact, except perhaps that people are just not in a shopping kind of mood.

Are you sick of seeing my eggs yet? If you so you may want to stop looking at my blog for the next couple of months until we get past Easter. I am having a blast making eggs. Like a hen gone crazy.

As I was taking photos of this new green egg Doctor Seuss' Green Eggs and Ham came to mind.
Got to love that man. Each one of his books is pure genius. Every single one loaded with fun and simple beauty. Just like my eggs. LOL

Hope your week is going well.

Big Bunny

I was hoping to create a pattern for a bigger bunny before Easter this year. It's been on my mind for quite a while. Once I created the little bitty baby bunnies I had the courage to move on to a bigger size floppy eared waldorf style bunny friend.

What do you think? I can't decide whether to give the bigger one a tail or not. The little ones look so cute with tails. But alas the tails are so tiny and more work. So much work goes into each one of my little creations. Do folks notice?

Alton Brown Live

Here is a photo of my sweet basket of wool for wet felting. I have got to go out and get me a pair of rubber gloves. As soon as it warms up...

Even Alton Brown complained about the weather here. Our family went to see Alton Brown Live last night at the UCCC. If you are FB friends with me you probably saw the photo. If not, you didn't miss much. Since cameras are illegal at such events, you know, I took just one of those dumb phone pictures before the show started.

It sure was an awesome show. If the man ever comes near where you live you should definitely go see him on stage. I think for someone who is a big TV celebrity he was a really nice guy. He actually appeared human. And he knows how to tell a good tale.

I very much enjoyed the 10 lessons about food he shared - 10 things he is sure about that are sure about food. Haeh? Lesson one seemed to be a no-brainer. Alton Brown said he is sure that chickens don't have fingers. Now that was one funny story about his daughter having a sleep-over party and him serving fried chicken feet to a bunch of five-year-old girls - since that was the closest he could find to a chicken finger. Yum!

Did you know that the man plays the guitar, saxophone, and can sing? We probably won't buy the CD but the whole family was smitten by the humor. I think my favorite part of the evening was his song about the Easy Bake. In this song he told the story of growing up as a little boy in the 1960s and wanting an Easy Bake oven for Christmas. His parents and Santa cruelly denied him. But look at him now! Dreams do come true. OMG that giant Mega Bake oven he built himself complete with steering wheel and stairwell was to die for. May all our dreams come true for us some day! Go Alton!

Frozen Toes

It just ain't right! I mean driving the children to school and nearly getting frostbite on your toes. If I hear the words "arctic blast" one more time I will scream. I don't know how many times I have shoveled snow this winter. Little peaks have been forming by the side of our driveway and they are not melting since it was a balmy -22 degrees this morning.

I really hope this cold spell shall pass soon. I am tired of cold feet and shoveling snow. And then there is this split thumb that keeps me from doing my work. Every winter I get really dry skin and at some point one finger splits open and no matter how much lotion I put on it just will not heal up.

It's not much fun doing handwork with band aids on, you know.

And then that Super Bowl game - total disaster. Distrought checkers at the grocery store as jubilation has turned into sadness and anger. My mail carrier tells me she saw grown man cry at a party she went, too. Really?

On a positive note: I got a fresh shipment of wool roving in last night. The box sitting on my front porch had only a slight dusting of snow. Luckily the contents were fine. Oh, such pretty new colors for making more felted eggs. Not that wet felting will be doing any good to my thumb...Still, I can't wait to get started. And  I am looking forward to taking some outdoor shots of my darling felted eggs once the snow melts...
