Sunny - a 15 inch Doll

This is the second 15 inch doll I have made this year. I love her so much. She is still not quite
finished. Her hair needs some tweaking and I'll have to make her some new undershorts. I found that the regular larger sized pattern for underwear turned out too big for this doll. She is more on the skinny side. Poor Gal!

Living at the GermanDolls orphanage with 7 other little dolls is hard. Not that much food to go around to feed the poor babies. Just kiddin'. But sales have been superslow. I hope someone will have a heart and adopt one of my babies soon...LOL

Willow - a 15 inch Waldorf Girl

Check out little Willow! Or rather big Willow. I rarely make large dolls. I somehow prefer the cute cuddly ones. But maybe I have been wrong. Big dolls are a lot of fun too.

I gave Willow some pink hair. You know like the gal from the "Fashion Police" on TV. No gray though...Just lovely mixed pinks. I think it looks really good on my doll.

The only thing I was undecided about was her outfit. Which outfit do you think looks cuter? The mushroom dress?

Or do you prefer seeing Willow in the cute frogs dress made from a cute Japanese fabric?

Please, do tell if you have a moment!

Happy Earth Day!

I hope your weekend is going well. I am spending every minute outside enjoying the warm weather while watching the kids play baseball. We had another fantastic day yesterday. The boys won both games on the first day of the tournament. Unfortunately one of our players was hit in the head by a foul ball. His parents ended up taking him to the emergeny room. Concussions are scary and it's best to take those injuries seriously. Alas, the games must go on today with one player on the bench watching...

In case you are indoors, I made a coupon that will get you 10% everything in my shop. But really, go outside and enjoy Nature on this beautiful Earth Day! Happy Earth Day, my friends!

Yellow Pillow Doll Finished

Here is a photo of the yellow pillow doll I finally finished and presented to my hip-hop dance teacher.
I think she turned out quite nicely. I love the bright yellow fabric. I gave her brown eyes and embroidered a few strands of brown hair under her cap. Of course, every baby needs rosey cheeks!

What do you think? Isn't she sweet?

cherry on top!

I know. I know. It's been awful quiet over here on my blog. What? 8 days have passed since I last posted? But I promise you I have not been napping over here! In the mean time the baseball season for my son's team came into full swing - literally! The boys won their first tournament. Sorry to bother you with this personal tidbid but I had to share it. I am pretty certain you don't care about baseball. I happen to be infatuated by that sport. We don't have it in Germany.

Seems that most good things come with a high price though. We had to freeze our behinds off under sleet and rainy weather conditions. Think the kid will remember this when he puts us in a resthome in our old age?

Talking about age. I also did have a birthday yesterday. Sigh! Another year older and still not much wiser. I am not going to tell you how old I turned. If I did, I would have to kill you. LOL

But I wanted to share a picture of these lovely cupcakes we got for our birthday. They came from a new bakery in our town called Batter Up Cakes. It's a quirky little place in the basement/garden level of a downtown building. You know, my husband and I share the same birthday. As we age together it gets older and older each year to bake a cake for the other. So we decided to check out that new place. They make the type of cakes like you see on TV cooking shows: Fondant covered brightly colored checkered works of art. Or we saw the baker work on a Birthday cake covered with monkeys and cute sculpted zoo animals. Oh well, it was too late to order one of the fancy cakes for us. Maybe a bit out of our price range too. But we got these yummy yummy cupcakes to spoil ourselves. They were sOOOOOOOO good! So if you happen by this place make sure to get some!

I have this cute little doll dress with cupcakes on it. Maybe time to make some more needlefelted cupcakes?

I also want to thank all the folks who visited my FB page and send me well-wishes for my birthday. As Winnie the Pooh would say: Life is so much friendlier when you have lots of friends to celebrate with!

Bees in a Bonnet

Bees in a Bonnet 1, originally uploaded by germandolls.

This little dolly is a rather wild child and needs a little girl to play with.

Now, don't be afraid of the little bees. They collect honey and will never do harm to you if left undisturbed!

Free Shipping on Minis

I hope your week is off to a good start. Sorry for not checking in with you for Easter. It was a beautiful day in Colorado. After our family attended the early morning service at Our Savior's Lutheran church we played outside all day. I got the seams of a baseball imprinted on my chin to prove it. But I'll spare you the image. LOL

The weather was just perfect. Not too hot and not too cold. Soon enough we will get in the 100s. So we had to take advantage of it.

I have a special promotion running in my shop this week. If you are a fan of my little miniature dolls hope you take advantage of this week's free shipping deal for all US customers.

Have a splendid week!

Hip Hop Golden Baby Doll

I have a new soft baby doll in the works. I am making her as a baby gift for my daughter's and my dance instructor. Believe it or not, I have been taking hip-hop dance classes since August of last year. I am kind of embarrassed about it, yet at the same time I am proud that I had the guts to stick it out...

My daughter has been dancing since she was 4 years old.
I am ashamed to say that I have never taken a dance class in my life. In Germany most kids take a ballroom dance class when they hit 14. My parents sprang for it for my two oldest sisters. Then they didn't have the money/time to pay for the rest of their 5 girls.
Den Letzten beissen die Hunde - as we say in German - the last one gets bitten by the dogs...Or in other words: being a young sibling really stinks.

It was terrible because I always felt bad when I was asked to dance at weddings and other occasions. I felt very deprived to say the least...

So please, don't do this to your child, and let them take a dance class or two while growing up. I think it's so important for a teenager's self-esteem. I always felt like a total idiot on the dancefloor.

I very much stink at this hip-hop thing. But luckily I have a very patient teacher and the group of ladies I am dancing with is very kind and encouraging. Keep your fingers crossed for me. I will be in my first dance recital in June. Only 2 more months to figure out these moves. Hope my dance instructor will be back soon after having her baby.
Do you think she will like the little doll I made for her baby? She still needs some eyes and a bit of hair.

Girl with Bandana

I just finished this darling litte set. I think the outfit is just perfect for the little doll. I named her Natasha.

She has peach colored skin, blue eyes, dark blond her. I gave her two little pigtails and bangs.

I made her dress of this precious now hard to find print. It has girls wearing pink bandanas on it. So I made the doll a matching pink polkadot bandana. Abosulutely adorable!

Enjoy!
