St. Patrick's Day

Time is flying. It's almost St. Patrick's Day. I have one Irish themed doll in my Etsyshop but I thought I better add an outfit, too. Surly all of us, Irish or not, could use some luck.

So check out this lovely Shamrock set. Of course, the doll traveling in the pocket is green and has green eyes. If your doll owned that set she'd be on the safe side for sure. NO pinching here! Where does this custom come from anyways? Anyone here know? I will have to go investigate.

Big Sis'

Big Sis' didn't quite make it out of the door yesterday. She waved Good Bye to Little Sister. Now she is sitting patiently in a chair waiting to go on the big trip...She had to wait a tad longer because she needed a slightly bigger wardrobe. You know, formal teas require extra special clothing. You can't eat cucumber sandwiches or enjoy a scone wearing rags...LOL

Big Sister loves the outdoors. Here she is saying Good Bye to the big oaktree in front of my studio windows. No worries though. There are lots of big old trees in Merry Old England, right!

It took me a while to make these cute little Acorn Booties to match big sisters green Acorn Dress. But I think they look fabulous and will be a hit in the London fashion scene...

Hedgehogs / Igel

As I was making this adorable hedgehog dolldress set I showed it to my daughter. She asked me:" What is that animal? A porcupine?" She has never seen a hedgehog in her life. I guess hedgehogs don't live in Colorado. At least I have never seen one around. Now I am wondering if and where they live on the continent. Please, let me know if you have seen one lately.
In Germany hedgehogs are quite common. I grew up around these cute fellers. I remember our neighbor taking one in one winter. The law said that if you found a hedgehog in fall and it wasn't fat enough(under 500 grams) to survive on his own you could take it in and keep it over the winter.
Too bad I don't have pictures of real hedgehogs. But they sure live on in my memory and imagination. I had lots of fun making the set shown in the pictures...

Probably not. But even so I am happy that somebody else has found my craft worthy.

I taught myself how to needlefelt a little over a year ago. My husband gave me a kit for Christmas in 2007. It is such a wonderful craft and so very affordable. All you need is a few grams of wool roving and a simple barbed needle. You sculpt the wool into amazing works of art by continously stabbing at it.
If you have a knack for little things and a lot of patience you must try it!
